I’ve recently been wondering whether or not I can be called a feminist. When I began to think about this, I quickly found that the word “feminism” is a rather complicated word. It is one of those words that, depending on who is speaking and how, can mean a wide variety of different things. Kind of like “evangelical” or “liberal.”

Too many corrections. Faith—I lack it. “Here is the secret: [sage wisdom].” Yes I hear it! I am excited! But two days later, I have forgotten and the rush of life and chores and sin and shame and friends needing my help and Bible study and chores and getting food and paying bills and chores and cleaning the house and church and friends needing my help and chores get in the way.

Glen’s Tales: The Forest Daughter
Some centuries ago, there was a young slave girl who was given to a cruel master. The sound of his steps always stirred fear and hatred in her, and she bore his misery for many years. Her warm heart was nearly turning cold, for in her eyes there could sometimes be found the beginnings of a resentment towards all happy people. But when her eleventh birthday came and went and was forgotten, she finally left her chains behind, and ran away.

Whether this ad is an attack on men at large. It is not. It is addressing the known issue of men abusing women through sexual harassment and assault, and men abusing men through bullying, and men being passive about these two issues.
